Balancing Act - AJ Chall Oct - Best & Worst

It took a while for me to imagine this page. I had lists (of course!) of examples of organization & its opposite, but I couldn't seem to decide how to present them. Then, for some reason, "Life in the Balance" popped into my head, and I was off. I had fun playing with layers for the background, and making the chains visible in front of the paper strips. The scale is from Google images, with a luminosity blend into the background. Supply details are in EXIF. Thanks for the challenge, Jody and Marilyn. Now back to my prioritized list - or maybe not.

Wow, Jo this is AWESOME! I love what you did here depicting the conflicting parts of you and how hard it is to balance and how clever to use the scale holding your thoughts and words. You even balanced your title, how cool! And, thank you - I really enjoyed reading about your process and how this page came to be. You did a great job with the scale and the strips and I like how you used different colors on them and your journaling is interesting. Your background is so soft and beautiful and you did a super job with blending, it looks terrific and I'm loving looking through your page! Marvelously creative layout all about Super YOU! Thanks for coming to the chat and adding your beautifully creative work of art to the Art Journal Gallery :)

I just love this! You've illustrated perfectly those little split personality traits we all seem to have. I love the scale image as well as the neat "organized" scraps next to the ...er...um... not neat "undisciplined" ones. :D Pretty background and colors, too.

This is so funny! My entire life is on the 'Undisciplined' side so I can totally relate to that, whilst my sister is a list person and is entirely on the left. Love the way you presented this and how much it rings true. Well done!

Such a clever idea. Makes me stop to think what my balancing act would look like! I like that the background remains lively with texture and soft colours yet doesn't compete for attention with the forground. The scale and the brightly coloured paper strips stand out clearly.
