Egrets

I wanted to try the technique Jode2771 described in the Nov 18, 2013 newsletter, using a darker value color to draw our eye across the page. I started out OK, but then the layout went in a slightly different direction. You've all been there, right? :D . Anyway, I did mix values on the page. Thanks for looking!

Journaling reads: Usually we see one, or sometimes two, egrets at a time. Last week, however, a small flock arrived. They hung around together, stayed for a few days, and are now gone again. Maybe it was their version of a “Midwest meet-up.”

Love your use of neutrals here and how it really lets the value in the photo guide the eye across the page, you certainly managed to use the idea well! The soft blend in the photo further enhances the feel of the page. The colours are gorgeous. Did you squint?? I did and it all looks great!

This is beautiful Diane! I love the painted blending on the photo & background, the use of the lifted frame to draw the eye to the photo, the neutral colors, and your clever journaling. "Midwest meet-up"... :giggle_bear: !

Diane this is great! I LOVE your photo - I always love your bird photos but wow this one is amazing! Very cool to see so many egrets at a time and all in a row! I laughed at your journaling - how clever and creative it is! :)

I love your background and your gorgeous blending and lovely color and use of value. And I sure hope you didn't pick up any more wrinkles on my behalf! heehee... Lovely page. :)

Wonderful photo - you've almost got all your egrets in a row! Great blending and mix of patterns. I like the small font and placement of the journaling, almost as if it's trying to stay quiet and out of the way so as not to spook the birds. A lovely, artistic layout!

I love this. I love Egrets, you are right they usually are kind of random, however I did see a group of them sitting in driftwood on the shore.Your photo is beautiful. I really like how you framed it. Your blending is beautiful!
