Saturday Color Challenge 12/28/13

Saturday Color Challenge 12/28/13

The Skinny guy on the bottom left started it all!  My Mom bought him in 1966 and loved him.  When she hung him up each year, we knew the Christmas Season had begun!  Years later, around 2004 - when visiting my sister we went to a craft village where she found a wooden skinny Santa.   Judi bought it for her and a tradition and this huge collection was begun!  In later years she added a few skinny snowmen and some round Santas too.   But, what she loved about her Santas were how different they were -- made from light bulbs, cinnamon sticks, bed posts, tongue depressors, fence posts, corn cobs....  And that only begins to touch the surface!   Each year Mom would lovingly unwrap each Santa and ooh and ahh over him and remember where she got him.   Written under each is their date and giver.    This year we put every single one out in her memory and then we did the oohing and ahhing...
The sign on the right is from the Grinch Movie, my Mom asked me to make it into a sign a few years ago, it reads:
"Welcome Christmas, bring your cheer.
Cheer to all who's far and near
Christmas day is in our grasp
So long as we have hands to clasp
Christmas day will always be
Just as long as we have we
Welcome Christmas, while we stand

Heart to Heart and hand in hand"

This is gorgeous!!! I love that collection and I can see how lovingly you placed them all this year...what a great story and tradition to carry on... I love all the rich colours and the way you blended the photo into the background... a wonderful page!

Beautiful page honoring your Mom.  I split up my Santa collection when we downsized the last time, and just kept a few favorites, and I loved looking at your Mom's collection.

This is quite a collection! I love your photo and am impressed you could fit them all in. I especially like the way you've framed the photo with greenery and added the little touches of gold. Wonderful story and beautiful page! I'm sure your mother would love knowing you've carried on her tradition.

What a beautiful collection and scrapped wonderfully!  I don't think I've ever seen skinny Santas before, but now I'll watch for them. Thanks for the challenge and sharing your mother's collection with us!

Fantastic collection and great story! I love seeing all those Santas. Wonderful page Marilyn - TFS!

That is quite a collection!  Love how you framed the photo with the bits of greenery, beautiful layout.

What a great collection, great tradition, great memory of your Mom, and great LO! I hope you keep this tradition alive for many years to come for your kids. It is a wonderful one!

What an amazing collection and love how you have used the whole page for the photo and framed it with the fir tree and glitter. Your journaling is fabulous you will have to do a seperate page for the journaling as its a wonderful memory of this awesome collection your Mum had :)

What a wonderful memory and fabulous collection!  I like seeing all the different types of Santas.  It's great that your mom wrote down who gave which Santa when.  I agree with Jane that your journaling is worthy to be preserved along with this page.

Your layout is awesome and what a lovely tradition. Beautiful memories of your Mom at Christmas. I love your Santas
