In spite of the insanity that December brings to me as a church music director, it is my favorite time of year! We kicked off the Advent season by decorating the church, inside and out. Loren is our “ladder guy”. Dave used to do it until the ladder collapsed and he broke his ankle some years back. So the torch has been passed! Ruth and Inita supervised the kids decorating the tree in the chapel, and the manger scene was my handiwork. That’s another favorite part of the
holidays for me, too. The choirs were in final rehearsals for our program on the 15th, and we even imported a few extras to help the adults.
Our old (really old!) tree in the sanctuary was well beyond its prime, so Dave & I donated a new one. This one is pre-lit and only has three parts.
On the old one, each branch had to be attached individually and it took at least four hours to assemble. THEN we had to string the lights!
Oy vey, this one was out of the box and set up in 10 minutes. Gotta love modern technology!
