2013 ThroughMyLens

I used SNU_AlterLife for this page.

Journaling reads: This afternoon I took my new lens extender tubes out for a little test run. The kids and I were looking for insects to identify for our insect lesson. We found lots of beetles, bees, flys, ants and even a Monarch Butterfly. Some insects are better observed at a safer distance though. Like grasshoppers! One benefit to shooting through glass is that there is a real physical barrier between myself and . .those things! Grasshoppers. . . well I don’t like them, . . at all! They gross me out! I honestly hate grasshoppers! But through a macro lens, I can start to appreciate them. The almost beautiful look of their compound eyes, their wings and each link in their long antennae, each of their three body sections, and their legs. I can actually see the parts we learned about. Creepy though they may be, they really are quite amazing . A creature I can appreciate. . .through the safety of my lens.

Wonderful photo; love the way you used three frames for it - divide & conquer! Excellent journaling. Background blending is great.
