Stories in Stone, left
These two pages are the continuation of Hands Across Time, which was part of Jump Start January. I used the same supplies for these two pages. The journaling, which is a bit hard to read on the screen, essentially explains the difference between pictographs, the hand prints made with pigment applied to rock, and petroglyphs, images carved through desert varnish, a layer of manganese & iron oxides accumulated over centuries (or millennia). There is no agreement among experts as to the significance of the varying images, which span time from 300 or so BC to late 1700's.
DH took the picture of Newspaper Rock. It's quite a distance from the viewing site, and my lens wasn't long enough. Even his photo wouldn't enlarge well in PSE. I added the two circle images for detail, by copying and then placing them on a separate level, duplicating, and using multiply blend for greater clarity. TFL - and go see some rock art for yourself!
