Journaling
Tom joined me on an adventure to the Everglades.
We stopped at the kitschy Everglades Holiday Park for an airboat ride.
The guide talked a lot about preserving the environment, but he also
used popcorn to lure the birds close to the boat. Hmmm,,,
Luckily he kept a fair distance from the alligators.
He pointed out black vultures hanging out in the trees,
and the brouwn and black grackles which were very
interested in the popcorn. But my favorite were the
purple gallinules; they were so adorably awkward.
Although they can swim, they cleverly use the
foliage to avoid disturbing the water and attracting
the attention of the aligators.
Afterwards we took in the aligator show.
That young mandragged a gator out of the pond by its
tail in order to puthis face near its mouth. All I could think of was Captain Hook!
