At first glance it looks like part of the paper design, which is a great way of keeping a large amount of text from overpowering the photo. Great idea!

Love that orange background paper. I like how you placed your photo and embellishments off to the left and your journaling off to the right with that bracket surrounding it all. Who knew that all those colors would go so well with orange. Of course butterflies go with anything.
