Susan and my daughter were classmates from middle school thru graduation. She bought this restaurant in early 2000 and has made so many awesome changes to this old, old building. Her artist brother, Jon, paints the windows for each Season. I am so pleased she won this award because she certainly deserves it. The write up in the paper quoted a number of the people (business owners, a pastor, a local community service organization, to name a few) who nominated her and mentioned some of the "things" she supports - our high schools (2), church events, scout events, and the list goes on. She opens The Dutch Corner for special dinners, sells raffle tickets, collects food for the different food pantries and even has a couple of her helpers deliver food when she knows someone needs something here in town. She is a special person, for sure and since SG is special, too, I thought this was a good fit!

It sounds like Susan is a special person indeed. Thanks for telling us about her! I love your not-so-serious page, too. You look very cute in that little house. :)

It sounds like Susan is quite a woman and worthy of the award given to her! I like the playfulness of your page. The whimsical little house goes will with the idea of remaking an old house. All the watercolor elements echo the painting in the main photo. Who is that peaking out of the little house window? Very cute touch! It looks like you stirred up all the ingredients and baked a delicious layout! Thanks for taking part in the challenge!

What a wonderful tribute to your daughter. I know you are proud and now.. so are we!

PS...Does her restaurant make Dutch food? I was wondering where one might get stamppot in the States...lol
