Harold J. Crips, Oct 1942

This is the final photo in a small album my grandfather sent to his sister in December of 1942. He included a list of all the pictures and their dates, but not always locations. DH says he's carrying a scoped rifle, and was probably squirrel hunting in the woods behind his home. We think he set up the camera on a tripod and used a timed release - a selfie. I don't know what kind of camera he had, but the image I used is of the right time - about 1939. Supply details are in the EXIF file.

Wonderful photo. It just goes to show that if the technology had been available, the selfie might have been just as popular then as it is now. Great masculine layout.

I love the colors you use here - the browns go so well with the sepia tones of the photo. Great photo of your grandfather and the camera is a lovely embellishment.

Wow, that is so cool, Jo - selfies way back then! Your photo is a treasure and you scrapped it so wonderfully. I love how you matted your camera with the eyefinder/scope (Oops, sorry - can't think of the right name but I love how you did that) and the sepia tone to your layout.
