I did two pages for Diane. This is the first page. Here is some background information that Diane supplied:

Cattle were first introduced to North America in Florida in 1521 by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon. He brought horses and seven Andalusian cattle, the ancestors of the Texas Longhorns.

· The herds ranged in size from 5,000 to 50,000 head.

· The largest single brood cow herd in the US is located in Florida.

· Florida is home to five of the top ten largest Cow/Calf operations in the US.

· Florida was ranked 10th in the nation in number of beef cows in 2011.

· Nearly one-half of all Florida Agricultural land is involved in cattle production.

· Florida's old-time cowboys had a unique way of herding cattle. They used 10- to 12-foot-long whips made of braided leather. Snapping these whips in the air made a loud "crack." That sound brought stray cattle back into line fast and earned cowboys the nickname of "crackers."

I love the background photo and the cowboy embellishment, too. There are a lot of cattle and horse farms in Florida and I'm always surprised to see them out and about in the heat! Thanks for joining the swap!

Oh, wow, Carol, this is fabulous! I love how you used one of the photos as a background and got a chuckle out of the cowboy herding them. The title is perfect and looks extra special with that butterfly flying around. :)

Thanks so much for making a great layout from my photos! I love it!.

Loved reading about the cattle industry in Florida. YAY Longhorns, oh wait, this isn't about the football team in Texas. We used to visit the farms when we lived in Miami. Some of my best photos are farms and beaches--go figure. Anyhoo, cute title and I love the larger photo as the BG. Perfect cowboy in the foreground. fun pages.
