Earth Day Celebration

This page is connected to Earth Day by date, and because it involves recycling. I made the three dresses in the top photo for Christmas in 1977; Mari was 6, Heather 2, and Karin 7. I know I also made the red striped dress, but I don't remember when, or for which child; it was most likely for Karin when she was 3 or 4. Early this week, I sent a package to Heather, now mother of two, which included gifts for Parks' first birthday, a book, and the red and purple dresses, which Karin had dropped off to be included. UPS said the package would get there on Wednesday. Thursday morning, Heather sent the two smaller photos, dated April 22 - Wednesday. And to our mutual joy, the dresses fit Alta, age 3 ½. We're a thrifty family - lots of things get passed on from generation to generation.

This layout is scrap lifted from a page by Jane in N.Z., titled Early Days. The link I saved brings up a different page, by a different scrapper. I searched for the page, but can't find it in her gallery. I pretty much copied her photo arrangement, mat positions, and embellishment placement. Thanks for the ideas, Jane! Supplies are in EXIF.

Love it - the smocked dresses bring back memories - Smocked all my daughters dresses, sadly only one survived. (I loaned them to a cousin who never gave them back to me). Love the template you used too.

Gosh, the dress still looks brand new! And she looks so sweet in it! Smocking is such a dainty craft, I envy you for having done it. I think you are so talented making all those dresses!

Such a sweet page, Jo and you brought back many happy memories of my cousins, sister and I sharing dresses and each of us was always so excited when it was our turn to fit into them! Precious photos and those dresses are gorgeous!
