The Caen Hill locks are a flight of locks on the Kennet and Avon canal in the UK, 29 locks have a rise of 237 feet in 2 miles or a 1 in 44 gradient. The locks come in three groups and take 5 to 6 hours to traverse in a boat, lock 41 is the narrowest on the canal

I went there 2 years ago - the lock staircase was something I'd always wanted to see. You got a great photo of it. Thanks for telling us how long it takes to "climb" in a boat. Think I'll stick to walking the towpath!

Wow those are amazing!!!!!!... We went up the series in Ottawa Canada of 8 locks lifting us 79 feet and that was exciting those must be totally exciting..
