Hops Harvest (L side)

My Drinks layout with arrows.

Journaling: Jeff and Dan biked to Arrowhead Hops near Madrid one afternoon to volunteer for the hops harvest and sample some beer. Hops are vigorous vines trained to grow up strings in a hop yard. The poles that support the system of strings are around 20 feet tall. At harvest time they cut down a whole vertical rope and bring the vine over for volunteers to pull the hop cones off into a mesh tray. On the way there they stopped at Flat Tire in Madrid for refreshment along the bike trail.

This is a very interesting topic for a LO, Cheri. I love your close up photos of the hops, the harvesting process, and the background photos of the fields, and especially the beer can tab embellishments. Great two page spread!

I've read about hops harvesting in the UK in books by Jacqueline Winspear; this helps me to visualize it.
