Our Wedding Day

Page one of related summer memories. This was a very home-made wedding. Mother made my dress - part of a bargain I struck with my father; If he'd agree to letting me participate in a cotillion during my freshman year of college, for which I HAD to have a white dress with a hoop skirt, I'd wear the same dress for my wedding, if it ever happened - hadn't met anyone yet. She also made my sister's dresses and my veil; I made Judy's (my college roommate) while doing student teaching and independent study my senior year. For the sake economy, my bouquet was stephanotis and ivy; the attendants' baby's breath and ivy. The reception was in the church community room, and the cake was made by Polly, for whom I'd worked during one summer. A friend of Dave (DH) took the photos, and gave us a completed album. The photos on this page were scanned from that album.

Supplies for both pages are in EXIF

What fun to see wedding photos from the past! Considering your budget, all of you did a gorgeous job; you and the wedding are lovely. I like the blue lace background, too.

What a cool memory page. Back in the day when weddings were simple..now they get out of control. You made a wonderful page and I loved reading your story but now you need to make it into a 2 pager with all that jouranling on it.

I can so relate to a lot of this story. My wedding was on a shoe string too. A friend did our photos too. Unfortunately, despite what he thought, the friend wasn't a good photographer and nearly 50% of the shots came out blurred. I have only just made myself my first wedding album (after 39 years!) Digitally of course!

Awww.. I so enjoyed reading your story and about your wedding, Jo and seeing you 50 years ago as a young bride. Beautiful photos and really lovely two page layout.

I love this LO. What a wonderful story about your wedding. It reminds me a lot of our wedding in 1964 when we had the reception in the grade school cafeteria. Cake and fruit punch served. Congrats on your 50th.
