All About Me - Personality
Journalling reads:
I think most people would say that I’ve always been a happy, easy-going person. As a child, I made friends fairly easy in spite of my shyness and was quite independent (or so I thought). I enjoyed playing with others and yet could have fun by myself. More of my friends were boys than girls. I was normally fun-loving, sometimes silly and loved adventure. Unfortunately, I could be bossy and sarcastic as well--I‘m the oldest, it’s my duty or so I’ve been told. By third grade or thereabouts, I learned that my patience runs thin with annoying behavior (tattlers, whiners, bullies and the like). I developed a compassion for justice--although I never started it, I was forced two or three times to stop a school yard bully who continually picked on my sister. I was a well-behaved young lady, but I no holds barred on boys who terrorized timid, young girls with physical challenges, especially my sister. On a more positive note, I loved music and took accordian lessons as encouraged by Granny--she played as did her father. I won first place for a solo performance of “Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago, music that Mom picked for me. It felt good that my mom and Granny were so proud. During winter months, creative projects kept me busy--Mom taught me to embroider, sew clothes, make counted cross-stitch works and so much more. I loved paper dolls, too. As a Girl Scout (Mom was the leader), I loved our adventures hiking in Palmer Park, camping in the Rockies or Garden of the Gods (or even in our backyard), and simply hanging out with the girls doing girl things. One year, Mom helped us create the best Barbie house ever--we loved changing out the carpet remnants and wallpaper. She made the best Barbie clothes ever-- she made them to make Christmas money, so I in turn, did the same. Dad was creative also. He did a beautiful job remodeling our home over the years and built a gorgeous fireplace. In high school, we had a terrific youth group with our own clubhouse. As part of the core group, we planned activities like skiing, ice skating, snow mobiling, river rafting, camping, hiking, biking--we stayed busy. When I graduated high school, those friends gave me my first scrapbook of memories to take with me. That scrapbook still means a lot to me--it’s an extension of wonderful friends!!
