Oops, I thought I posted this!
Journaling:
Nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day like chicken fried
steak and a Mimosa! After church, Dave took me to
O’Charley’s for brunch. We’ve been wanting to go for
a long time, and I loved the idea. It was cold and sleeting,
and the crowd was pretty big, but it was worth the wait.
On the way to visit mom we stopped and got her a big
helium balloon, and she loved it. This was Dave’s and my
41st Valentine’s Day together. He bought me a lovely
necklace that I’d wanted: it has a long gold chain and
a filigree ball that holds a small chime. It rings very softly
from time to time.
On Monday Mark’s roses arrived at the nursing home
and they are gorgeous! Mom had another rough start
to the week. She’s still fighting therapy, but after another
“come to Jesus meeting” she finally made up her mind
to do what she’s supposed to do. So far she is still
scheduled to be released on the 24th.
Gas is down to $1.39 a gallon here in town! We had
some nasty weather with 40 mph wind gusts. The bird
feeder is all lopsided, but the little birds love that they
can get right down inside it to eat.
On Friday we got word that mom is definitely
coming home next week so we had one last nice
dinner out. We’ve missed her of course, but we
have to admit that having the house to ourselves
has been very nice.
Saturday we went exploring again. We drove up near
Nashville to see the J. Percy Priest Dam. Bell Road
takes you right across it to a beautiful park and view
of the lake. There are tons of ducks, geese, seagulls,
and coot. J. Percy Priest Dam is at river mile 6.8 of the
Stones River, a tributary of the Cumberland. The reservoir
behind the dam is Percy Priest Lake, named in honor of
the late Congressman from Tennessee. Construction
began June 2, 1963 and the dam was completed in 1968.
