The journaling seems a bit fuzzy; it reads:

We flew to Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 30, 2015, and were driven to the Fort Garry Hotel. On the way our driver took us to a camera store so Dave could buy another battery. The hotel was built in 1913 by the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, in the “chateau style”. Dinner was in the elegant Palm Lounge. Breakfast the next morning was cooked to our specifications by a chef with a towering hat.

For the rest of the day we did almost nothing – wandered about the hotel and read. We did visit the fitting room, where our guide Drew and his assistant evaluated the outer wear we had brought, and lent us some replacements – parkas, gloves (BIG mitts), and boots with liners. That evening we had dinner with all the other travelers on our adventure. Drew and Wendy (the trip organizer) reviewed our itinerary and our chance of actually seeing northern lights.

Hey, my dad just moved from the city of Winnipeg (back) to Winnipeg Beach! I wonder if he had ever been a tourist there.

Great photo essay you did! I love the soft browns and your photos are amazing. What a nice vacation memory for you guys.
