Old Sturbridge Village -- Slow Scrap
This past weekend we went for a ride to Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA which re-creates life in rural New England during the 1790s through 1830s. It is the largest living museum in New England, covering more than 200 acres (80 hectares). The Village includes 59 antique buildings, three water-powered mills, and a working farm. Costumed interpreters speaking in modern language help visitors understand 19th-century life. Some of the sights we saw were a potter, sheep and their herder, an old wooden covered bridge, horse drawn sleigh, blacksmith, bulls, chickens and more. We didn't get to take the river ride and check out some of the other houses as it was getting hot and humid. That will have to wait until Autumn when its cooler and the leaves are changing.
