Camille In Mobile

My home town is Mobile, Alabama. (BTW, it's pronounced Moe-beal, with emphasis on the second syllable, not like the mobile you hang from the ceiling!) Mobile is steeped in history, and our downtown area is filled with beautiful old antebellum homes, many of which open their doors for historical tours in the spring along the “Azalea Trail.”

My husband and I attended a wedding reception a few years ago at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion, where I took the photos of the statue and the home. The bushes behind the statue are camellia bushes, but it was May and the camellias were not in bloom (they bloom in the late fall and winter). The photo of the perfect camellia bloom above was taken last winter – I clipped it from one of my sister's bushes. The camellia is the Alabama State Flower.

Journaling reads: This lovely statue of a youthful Southern belle captures my imagination. “Camille” stands in the Camellia Garden at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion in Mobile, Alabama.

This is gorgeous Brenda!!! So soft and delicate. Really enjoyed reading the tiny bit of history and that is the most perfect camellia, such a pretty pink.

My husband lived in Mobile for a couple years as a child. There is a town named Eutah and they have the mansions, old, but in pretty good repair and so fun to visit. Thanks for sharing your LO, it is lovely and with your beautiful camellia bloom, it is perfect!

I looked up Eutaw after your post - it has "24 structures listed on the National Register for Historic Places and many more eligible for nomination" according to the website, and the pictures look like it would be a wonderful place to visit! I had never heard of it, but it sounds like a fun road trip!

I love the photos and how you blended them! The pink is beautiful, too. Thanks for the info about your hometown, I learned something new! And thanks for joining the challenge!
