Tuesday NL Tribute 3/7/17 Tribute: Jody

I was playing with the photo-to-sketch technique Kelly told me about and then tried it on this photo of Jody that Callan took on my last full day in Australia. He was playing around with her camera and taking photos of both of us and later we found this closeup of Jody. As journaling in the background I blended the tribute Darren asked me to write about our friendship and Jody's ScrapGirl role that was read at her funeral. The little figure is a Willow Tree angel called Remembrance that my cousin sent me after Jody died. Since her favorite color was pink, this mini collection worked perfectly for my page.

For this layout I used:

OMG....STUNNING. I love it. What a great photo and the journaling is so touching. How appropriate that you used pink, it was her wedding color.

I just love this. You did an amazing job.

Oh, Marilyn! This is so beautiful what a loving tribute to Jody! You nailed the sketch technique perfectly. The soft pink is just the right shade. Your little angel cluster adds the right touch. I didn't read all of your journaling but pick out bits and piece, very touching. (Brought a tear or two to eyes) Jody would be proud of your work.

Hugs to you!

Such a touching tribute to Jody. How we all miss her, and I know you had a special bond with her. Beautifully done. Love the angel, I have one of those, too. Miss seeing her here with her wonderfully creative work and hilarious comments. I must find that Kleenex box.

Marilyn, I am so glad you did this, the angel and photo is awesome. Is there any way that you would be willing to share what you wrote? I try, but can't read it. Thinking of you and wishing I could make it easier for you, you tow shared hearts and beat the same.

I would not mind sharing; I didn't want to sound pretentious when I posted but almost said that. I just didn't want to post all the journaling on the public post here with the layout.

I think Jody was guiding you to create this layout, Marilyn! She would have loved it and it's a bit of her style here. It's a gorgeous tribute. You should print it and send it to her family. Thanks for sharing this with us!

This is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful person, and what a beautiful friendship you shared. It's so cool when God just knits our hearts together with someone. I still find inspiration from Jody as I create layouts, and I still remember the generous freedom with which she shared her creativity and insights. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Lovely page about a lovely person! This is a perfect way to remember Jody. I was just thinking about her today. She had such a positive outlook despite having a terrible disease. She inspired me in many ways. Thanks for sharing your tribute to her.

What technique did you use to turn your photo into a sketch? Is there a tutorial about it?

Marilyn, I feel that this layout is composed of the love and kindness that you and Jody gave each other; it is rich with the emotion of lifelong friendship. I love the happy casually caught photo you have used and that you did this layout using a creative and ambitious technique. Jody would have loved that. Wonderful work and treasure.

Hi Sue, I found the link Kelly sent me but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm on my way to ask her about it, if not I've copied it into a document and will let you know.

Marilyn this is awesome. Fabulous blending and colours used. What a wonderful testimony to such a creative Scrap Girl when read out at her funeral and also all the lives she has touched here.

What an amazingly beautiful tribute to Jody! I love the addition of the Willow Tree sculpture as an embellishment, and Jody's lovely smiling face blended in. Such symbolism, with her friendship blended into your life as well.

*hugs*
