I LOVE bread pudding!  MMMM

("heels" of bread, are the end pieces of the loaf-I just use whatever bread I have on hand...)

You've surely got my number with your recipes this month, Conda.   I love bread pudding too and this sounds so easy.

Your card is so easy to read and your cluster is lovely.   I'm not sure about 5 heels of bread, is that enough for the recipe?   I only know heels as the last slice so I'm not really sure what it means, sorry! :)

As my husband calls them, the crust.  Yes, it is the two end pieces.  Glad you asked, I even just use regular bread if I don't have heels saved.  (which I never do).  If it doesn't seem like enough bread after I pour the egg mixture, I add more bread.  It would be yummy with a brioche bread.  OMGoodness...I may have to make this now!!  Except, I'm the only one who eats it here....

Oh, send some here Conda - I'm thinking of it and getting hungry and I just finished eating!
Ok, thanks for the information I thought that was the heel!    FYI - I also make bread pudding (or baked french toast) with Challah bread and it's so amazingly good.

On another note, my mom used to save an extra muffin, slice of raisin bread, cake, challah, wheat bread -- any baked good like that in a bag in the freezer and when she got enough she'd use it for bread pudding.   It was SOOOoooo delicious and almost like a fun house - you never knew what you'd bite next or what was in it but it was GOOD.

This really is just a yummy dessert!! But can I add what my Mum used to do...she used to spread raspberry jam (homemade) on the bread and as she layered the pieces of bread she would put dried apricots and sultanas in there as well then when it was nearly cooked  she would put a meringue mix on the top. Talk about decadent!! :rolleyes:Those were the days when we were children and would burn all that energy off:D  None of my children or husband really like this dessert but I still love it even without all Mums added yummy bits but very rarely get to have it. Thanks for the trip back in time Conda!!

I love bread pudding, I love your card and the pretty cluster, it nice and easy to read and my tastebuds are awakening and now I want some :D. I love reading everybody's comment and the first thing I thought of was the bread pudding from mum and the ones we could get in the local bakery/patisserie shop. My mum's was as good as the one in the shop, but sometimes I would buy a piece of bread pudding on the way to school with my pocket money:rolleyes:. A big thank you Conda from me too!

Sorry I hadn't seen this, Conda. I also love bread pudding, and although I can have very little of it, I still do. Someone online makes it with doughnuts! Now that would be a killer. :) Your card is so neat and easy to read.
