Mom and Me, 1974

In this LO, I used both of the tutorial techniques I recently learned - journaling inside a shape (and how to make the shape), and using adjustment layers.  I really like the brightness and contrast adjustment layer to individually adjust each photo easily.

Journaling:  "Later in life, my mom dealt with some emotional issues, and as a result of depression, she battled with alcohol dependency.  I sometimes wonder if we could have helped early on, if we had known.  She was a very good mother to me, regardless.  Here she is trying to corral my energy!  Nancy and Kelle, Crofton, Maryland, 1974"

How nice that you have photos of these "ordinary" moments. From what I understand, there's really nothing you kids could have done to help your mother, and probably having you and your love gave her great happiness.

Good for you putting your techniques to work! Everything looks great here. Don't you love learning new things? I love the warm background and the cool way you "attached" your photos with clips.

Great job, Mikelle, with the tutorials. I'm always amazed at those of you who can pull stuff together from so many different collections. I especially love your title. Such beauty in the ordinary!

Very touching page, Mikelle and your photos are sweet.  You did great journaling in the shape and expressing your thoughts, I'm sure you were the light of your Mom's life.
