The photos are from our recent trip along the Rhine. I always wanted to see the Lion of Lucerne and am so glad I got my wish. DH and I gave the trip to each other for our anniversary, so I tucked tickets behind one of the photos as the "gift" part of the layout.

AFT Peridot;
BMU Background Blenders;
BMU Manmade;
BMU Venue - tickets;
Fonts are Harrington and Book Antiqua.

Journaling reads: The monument is dedicated Helvetiorum Fidei ac Virtuti (“To the loyalty and bravery of the Swiss”). The dying lion is portrayed impaled by a spear, covering a shield bearing the fleur-de-lis of the French monarchy; beside him is another shield bearing the coat of arms of Switzerland. The inscription below the sculpture lists the names of the officers, and approximate numbers of the soldiers who died (DCCLX = 760), and survived (CCCL = 350).

So lovely Diane - I've been waiting to see photos of your trip!   Your photos are great and so nice to see you, too.   I enjoyed your interesting journaling and thanks for writing it out, I have trouble with my small screen and the new Gallery.  I really like your soft masking and background colors and how creative to use the ticket - yout gift sounds like Joyce's joint one - what a great idea.

So glad you got to see this magnificent sculpture. I enjoyed Brad Thor's fictional piece, Lions of Lucerne. Good book. Seeing your LO makes it so real. Your LO is beautiful--especially like the blending and the inset of you in the photo! :)
