Susan Marjean Left

My mother-in-law is such a joy. I just adore her. I am the luckiest woman alive. She is also such an inspiration to me. Words like strength, courage, integrity, determination, steadfastness, faithfulness, adaptability are all used to describe her, but they all pale in comparison to the woman that is Susan Marjean Doss Reynolds. She is the bedrock of her family - firm, secure, an anchor in the storm.

I discovered in researching her family that she comes by these traits naturally. They are not learned or developed - they are her birthright. Her 10 times great grandparents were John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the Mayflower. Less than half the Pilgrims survived that first bitter, disastrous winter at Plimouth Plantation. Yet THEY endured, and passed to their descendants those character traits that have made the Pilgrims the founders of America, although they were not, in fact, the first colonists. Their footsteps echo dimly down the corridors of time, their voices muted whispers in the night. Yet they live on in this incredible woman who honors me by calling me daughter, not daughter-in-law.

I am truly blessed!
