Anniversary 17 Tuesday Challenge Special Food

Here's my "Special Food" layout for the Anniversary Tuesday Challenge.  You can find it HERE.
Journaling reads:
"My Dad’s Mom made sauerbraten each winter when he was young and it was a family favorite and specialty.  With it went potato Kartoffelklosse, red cabbage and dark German bread.  Each fall during my childhood my Dad and Mom would make it for our family - it was a much anticipated treat.  After my Dad died my Mom still made it occasionally and once she, my sister and I did at my sister’s house in Indiana.   My sister remembers that we made it ourselves when I visited her, but still had Mom at home to call and ask questions.  When she died it had been many years since we’d had it so last Fall when I visited we decided to have an Octoberfest and try it on our own.  We followed Mom’s recipes, holding our breaths at crucial moments like waiting for the dumplings to rise and hoping they would in one piece.  And, they did!  There were lots of laughs and storytelling as we remembered our childhood days and Mom’s care in making the meal.  We were both delighted that everything tasted “just right” and happy to be continuing this tradition.  It was a wonderful day."
