I included a page just for Saturday. This was too important to me to skim over.

Journaling:
Saturday was everything I’d hoped for and more, even though the weather was horrid. It was cold, rainy, and windy. Quite typical for Chicago in the fall, but yuck. We had breakfast in the hotel and basically hung out in our room.

Diane’s service was scheduled for 4:00 at Fourth Presbyterian Church. We hailed a cab and as soon as we got out we ran into Greg Rehner. Greg and I paired up in 1975 for our elementary music methods class and taught together.

Inside the church we met up with Ellen Strba Scholl, Karen Mollitor Brhel, and Mike and Linda Krueger. We were all in Madrigal Singers together at Northern Illinois University from 1975 - 1978. Our dear friend Cindy Halgrimson was scheduled to sing on the program and when she showed up in the lobby there was much hugging and squealing!

There were several former professors there as well, and reminiscing was just amazing! It had been 40 years since most of us were together last.

After the service we met for dinner at Francesca’s a few blocks away and ate ourselves silly. We even tried singing one of our old songs, it was awesome!

A few of us gathered back at our hotel and took over a corner of the bar for a few more hours. It was like we had never been apart and we are already making plans to do this again.
