Sunday night it was time to Deck the Halls, or as it is known in the Methodist Church, The Hanging of the Greens. It’s always so much fun decorating for the Christmas season and we had a great crowd to help this year. Of course, I had to wear my new antlers and Bené wore her “Santa in the Chimney” headband, too. Everyone thinks we’re crazy, but that’s okay!
I put my antlers on Izzy (the pastor’s granddaughter) for a photo, and then Pastor De thought the gold lamé tree skirt made a great super hero cape.
Amy meticulously straightened all of the letters on the banners behind the choir loft. She is one week out from knee surgery and she made us all very nervous climbing like that.
Our daughter Sarah finally found a penguin that is just her size! I don’t think she bought it, but she threatened to.
Our gifts aren’t much of a surprise this year as we simply have ordered a few things that we need or want for the house. We bought this countertop ice maker and we LOVE it!
The ice maker in our freezer is broken, and the water here is so heavily chlorinated that we end up buying bagged ice. Now we can make our own using filtered water from our Brita pitcher. It’s great and will pay for itself after just a few weeks.
Dave and I are finally on the mend. but his mom had to be taken to the hospital on Saturday. She has a bunch of things going on, but the worst is pneumonia. At 84 this is nothing to play around with. It was a very long day so we had dinner at Chili’s right by the hospital and then went home and crashed for the night.
