Journaling:
Valentine’s Day was different this year. For the first time I can remember, Ash Wednesday fell on Valentine’s Day. It was busy for us as the interim music team. We also needed to go to a visitation for the mother of a dear friend. Miss Mildred has been in an assisted living facility for five years and she passed on Monday.

Before we went there, we stopped by to see Dave’s mom. We took her chocolate candy (and some for her roommate, Miss Eleanor as well) and this adorable stuffed flamingo that I found! Mom collects flamingos and she promptly named this one “Matilda.” I tell you, it was hard to give her up! And I restrained myself and didn’t go buy another one the next day.

After the funeral home visit, Dave and I went to Margarita House for a quasi-date, and as usual it was delicious! Our pastor is in Israel for two weeks, and this lovely couple filled in for him at our Ash Wednesday Service. Rev. Jack Gilbert and Rev. Nan Zoller were wonderful!

Saturday was a blast! Jacque Schmidt, her son Joey, and daughter Allison picked me up bright and early and we ventured into Nashville in the pouring rain. It was the annual Vacation Bible School Preview Workshop and this year’s mascot is Romper the River Otter! We sang and danced, and Allison won one of the puppets! Decorating this year is going to be awesome. I’m already working on learning the songs and the dance moves so that I can teach the kids.

That is a cute flamingo. I enjoyed reading about your busy week. I used to enjoy being involved in Vacation Bible School.

Sounds like a busy week filled with fun, too!   When I was younger I taught at a Vacation Bible School and even directed it a few years even though it wasn’t my church!   But, I don’t remember mascots, then.   I enjoyed reading about your week and looking through the photos.

Love Matilda.  So cuddly. Daves mum looks as though she loves her too.   So sorry to read about the loss of Miss Mildred. Your journaling is so good.
