Weekend Challenge 2/24/18 Heritage: Dad/Army

Marilyn, This is a wonderful collection of photos of him. I love that you used his toy soldier on the page! I wouldn't worry about a title I think the page is perfect the way it is. Thank you for his service.

What incredible photos!  So neat that you have these.  Medical Corps in the Army?  Really amazing photos.  He's so young!  I love the textured background paper you used.  Also, the coin... is that actually one of his coins from his time in service?

Thank you and yes!  Those are pins or things that had been on his uniform so the coin is from then too, I think it’s a pin. I scanned them awhile ago so can’t exactly remember.  We have a box of things, plus real money/coins he brought home.  And, I know! It is SO hard to believe how young he and those other soldiers were, my Mom always said he was in towards the end of the War, but earlier my Aunt’s friends were drafted before even finishing HS!  My Dad was in a Medical Corps that followed the front, so he was the next line in on the European Theatre, not right at the immediate action.  We used to tease and call him “doctor” because of his “medical” experience but he did know a lot.  We have a list of where he was and the dates and also the letters he wrote home to his Mom.  He never talked about it much, my Mom thought it was a hard experience but he and his friends would get together and that’s when they discussed it.   She met him later, was only a young girl when he was there!  It’s very cool, though to think of - a big part of History.  

This is a super lovely page of your Dad. I love it. Hudson's Dad was a medic like yours, but we don't have much except his photos.None of them ever talked about it.I'm so glad you have all of these mementos.

Gorgeous! I love your photos and reminds me of some photos I have of my grandfather. So cool that you scanned in his pins/coins! I'm not sure what you could do for a title, maybe Medic? Thanks for the great challenge, I haven't done a heritage LO in a long time.

it is so hard to believe that one so young but so brave. I love your army background on your layout, that is a definite must have for your heritage page!

What a great special arrangement of photos. He does look young and quite handsome. My Dad was only 19 when he went off to fight in Papua New Guinea during WW2.  Your extracted items add a lovely touch to this heritage page. 

Great collection of photos. My dad was a hospital corpsman in the Navy during WWII and served in the Pacific and then in Korea years later. You are fortunate to have photos of him in theater, a real treasure.

I think this is an incredible assortment of photos and you've scrapped them beautifully. My Dad was part of the D-Day landings and like other fathers mentioned here, he was still a teenager when he went to fight.. I have photos which I've never scrapped because I've not found a suitable scrapbook product. I feel guilty that I haven't recorded this momentous part of his story.

What an amazing assortment of photos you have here. I love your BG its perfect for these photos. Its so hard to imagine what our fathers went through and saw at such an early age isn't it? and your Dad would have seen more than a lot being a medic. Fabulous page

This is incredible! What a treasure to have those photos and all the memorabilia with it. Hard to think of teenagers being in the terrible situations that come with war. They grew up fast and really were an outstanding generation.
