Dad's Bridge

When Dad was Chief Bridge Engineer of Hennepin County, the original Hennepin Avenue Bridge, built in 1865, was replaced. Dad was in charge of coordinating the design and inspecting the bridge, so I like to think of it as his bridge. Dad made a gingerbread version of the bridge 23 years later with my son David. David baked the cookie pieces, but Dad once again supervised the design and construction.

Oh my gosh, this is so cool!  I really enjoyed your journaling and it made me smile thinking of my Grandpa and the different roads and structures he’d been on the building team with - he’d always show us and when I see them now I still think of him. :)   Your photos are awesome and WOW - how cool to have a gingerbread bridge built.   Your family has the sweetest moments and I really enjoyed this one! :)

Apart from being a great scrap page, I love the story here.  I have only sons, and used to receive just a grin and a 'yeah, great,Mum" when I showed a page. Now they all have children, however, I find both my sons and their children tend to gravitate to the albums to see either what Grandma has done since we were last here (usually Grandchildren) or "oh, yeah, remember when" - the boys.
