Journaling:
VACATION WEEK!

Sunday morning we met our former choir director and his wife for breakfast. It was therapeutic to be able to talk about the loss of the music job and compare some notes.

Monday I got my nails done and started packing. I finally gave up and played with my iPad instead! We left for Gatlinburg around 9am on Tuesday and didn’t slow down for the next three days!

When we arrived, we found a lovely card waiting for us. Our friends had left the table set for two and covered with rose petals. Also, two wine glasses filled with Hershey’s kisses and a little black bear couple. So sweet of them!

We planned to go to Anakeesta, but it poured rain so we postponed it till Wednesday after Dollywood. We had a wonderful dinner at the “Best Italian Restaurant” then came back and soaked in the hot tub.

Wednesday we spent just enough hours in Dollywood, and Dave had rented a scooter which made it a lot more fun for him! I had a hard time keeping up with him. Afterward we went up the mountain to Anakeesta via Chondola. You can still see where the 2016 fire affected the area. Dinner was at Chrystelle Creek, and the piano player even knew our song from back in 1974!

Thursday was our 43rd anniversary and we spent most of the day driving through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I really wanted to see a bear, but not one was visible! Boo! Dinner was at The Peddler Steak House; highly recommended and VERY crowded.

Home on Friday and still recovering!

Chondola and burned trees at Anakeesta. I still can’t believe I rode in one, but the view was beautiful!

It sounds like a fun time and your photos and journaling are wonderful.  I remember when my sister and I visited Wyoming everyone was looking for bears and we actually did see a few on the side of the road.  It got so whenever anyone saw a stopped car everyone else would stop to see what they were looking at.   Happy Anniversary, that’s reason to celebrate.

What a nice way to celebrate your anniversary and to get away for a while. You got some great photos and I enjoyed reading about your trip.
