On raising support
"We are born afresh in Christ, and born to do those good deeds which God planned for us to do." Ephesians 2:10 in the J.B. Phillips New Testament
Journaling:
When I began to raise support for work in Europe it was intimidating. Finally prayed about how to proceed (duh!) and felt God gave me Eph 2:10. So I asked folks to pray and see if being part of my team was one of the good works He
had for them to do.
I'm a homemaker now and no longer raise support.
But my experience has given me a heart for those who do.
Think about it.
It's easy to get excited about work in the jungle, with the urban poor, or even like the work I was
doing establishing English-speaking churches as a bridge to the national cultures. But there's a whole other breed of folks who raise support -- the home office staff. HR, recruitment, accounting
None of those are very exciting. But they're essential for the work done by the folks in the field, whatever it may be.
So maybe consider the home office missions staff next time you up your giving. That might be one of the good deeds He's had planned for you.
