A young Clarence Doty, long before he met my mom or even before he joined the Navy. He was part of a Federal work crew, hired to put men to work during the Great Depression. His crew acted much like the military SeaBees did during WWII. They cleared land for roads, built bridges and parks. Clarence had worked driving lumber trucks and learned carpentry from his dad, so he was one of the lucky ones who found work thanks to Franklin Roosevelt and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
