Oh wow, your story AND your daughter (& mama too!) made me tear.   I can only imagine how proud you were, how wonderful to see her at a young age not falling for the hype but for what was more important to her!  I really enjoyed your journaling and Your photos are awesome.  The starts all over your page really show how she shone!   THanks for sharing this.  :)

What a beautiful commentary on your daughter’s loyalty and values! I also like how you illustrated the story both with the photos and with the stars, which I believe, are part of the American Girl logo.

Thanks for the kind words, MariJ! I am scrapping old vacations and trips, and seeing these old photos reminded me of that day - a sentimental one I don't really want to forget.

Thanks, Floridagranny! You are correct, I used the stars to be reminiscent of the American Girl logo. I did a little research to see where the company is today and ran across this fascinating story from Nov 2018 in the Chicago Tribune.

I read this article - it was so interesting and a sign of the times.

Yes, it was really interesting! I did a lead-in page that used a street photo of the old Chicago Avenue building and excerpts from the article for the album, but since both were copyrighted, I didn't post them in the SG gallery.
