Text page 1: What a strange and grief stricken year. The news has been terrible to keep up with. Such terrible illness and death. Personally we haven't been hit too badly. Mike's cousin Gary died from the virus, he had underlying health conditions and lived in a state where they didn't do restriction. Two of my cousins, sisters, Sandi and Sharon got the virus and are recovering, but slowly. Don't know anyone else who has gotten it that we know. We have been very careful wearing masks, social distancing, not going to stores unnecessarily and being social with very, very few people, mostly Janine and Dianne and outside with distance. Has been harder with the weather turning nasty. Fortunately we have a long back porch and have been able to eat out there for Thanksgiving. We isolated before Christmas and Janine did too so we were able to eat in the house safely. Otherwise it is sitting on our from porches and if cold all bundled up. It has been frustrating sometimes when out shopping that others don't wear masks or seem not to care that they may be making others sick. We have weathered the stay at home orders quite well. Worked on the house and in the yard. Have taken a lot of bird pictures and just sat and watched all the feathered activity. I did not miss all the travel that we usually do. I hate flying and it was relaxing not to have to fly off anywhere. Mike has missed the travel though. I have actually been quite content to stay close to home. Have missed seeing Jean and Jay and Anna though. Mike has really missed visiting Kenny. We have been walking a lot and going to some trails we have wanted to hike for some time. Trying to walk every day. At first it was hard since all the local trails were really crowded. Lots of adults with kids on bikes and skateboards. Not to mention the adult bikers who seem to think they are in a race at all times. Have rediscovered the beauty of Oregon and will continue to go out and hike trails here instead of going out of state so much. I am doing a lot of scrapbooking while at home. Have started learning PS and a watercolor program. I have made well over 100 pages so far. Have rediscovered Scrap Girls, one of the first sites I found when I first started digital scrapping. Have really enjoyed interacting with some of the ladies and doing their challenges. Will definitely continue, virus or not. We had a wildfire scare this past summer. We were put into a level 3 evacuation zone and we got ready to leave at a moments notice. Fortunately for us the wind changed and we were out of danger. The smoke was just terrible! I had to stay inside until it cleared. This was scarier than the virus. We could do something to help keep ourselves safe from the virus, but we could do absolutely nothing about the weather and the fire. Just sit and hope for the best. Text Page 2: The vaccinations have started. I am in a high risk category, but when it comes my time will have to consult with Dr. as I'm allergic to lots of drugs. Will need to have the shot and stay close for emergency care for about thirty minutes. I do hope that most people will be willing to take the shot. Also hope that the mutations that are starting to occur will still be susceptible to the vaccine. Would be terrible to have a vaccine that suddenly doesn't work any longer. But mustn't worry about things to come and may not happen. There are only a few more days of this year and we have been very fortunate in that Mike and I, and all our closest friends and family, have weathered the virus and all the lock downs and subsequent financial burdens put on so many. Because we have been so fortunate, and also haven't spent as much money traveling, we have donated a lot more than usual to our favorite charities. I just wish we could have given more. And so one of the most terrifying, frustrating, saddest, and in some ways, relaxing year of my life has ended. And I say 'Good Riddance!!' @LauraMy Grandmother always used the phrase 'And so endeth....  Decided to look it  up to see if it is a real word. It is. Dictionary says, (archaic) Third-person singular simple present indicative form of end. I misspelled the word. I see you spelled it properly! Will need to correct.
