When You're Grown

It's been a couple of months since I've done a layout and it felt so good to express myself! This is honor of my son turning 12.

I tried a few new things. I tried the high pass filter which I read about in Simple Scrapbooks Digital Scrapbooking and I finally purchased the chipboard style. I also played around with the photo itself, trying to give it some pop. I've had a horrible time trying to choose colors to use in the SS line but I used a tutorial on creating color schemes and I looked for photos online that had colors I liked and created some color schemes. This helped me a lot!

Supplies: Papers are from Scrap Simple Groovy-paisley (with chipboard style) and SS Groovy Special by Brandie Valenzuela. Embellishments are from Day to Day Life by Cheryl Barber (clip), ribbons from ScrapGirls Comfort (Special) by Amanda McGee, tape from Bookworm by Erica Hite, brush from GraphX by Thao Cosgrove. Fonts are Franklin Gothic Book and Lexographer.

As the mother of two teenage sons it is particularly nice to see such a handsome layout!

I love how you have done the background paper! Your layering looks awesome too. Great way to journal, I really like how you used the tags to add interest. Great job!

Wow! This really jumps right off the screen! Excellent work. I like the curved corners on the photo with the paperclip -- nice touch!

I love the journaling. How true it is about the pre-teen year. I have 12 yr old also and your words hit home. It's hard to find that fine line between allowing them to grow and being the parent.
