This is my Lo for the first day of school! I did it in colours that I don't usually use to perhaps emphasise the fact of the drama of school.

I used:

BHA Stylize

GHU Rustic Crush

JHI Curled Edges

Font: Black Chancery

TFL

This is my journalling:

My first day of school was traumatic!!

Actually it may have been in the first week. It was fourty five years ago! But I got the strap for standing at lunchtime! I do not remember the details only that I got the strap and I never really enjoyed school from that point on. I do not have any photos of my first years at school. My parents shifted five times during my school years and it felt like that when I had just began to make friends we shifted. I was not an outgoing sort of person , so making friends did not come easily. Also I was one of those unnoticable children. All that my reports ever said was average. Nothing more nothing less just average. So I really did not like my early years of school and I have really blocked out alot of the memories from those early school days. BUT I did enjoy my last three years of school at Golden Bay High School. We stayed in one place for six years and I was able tomake some firends that are still my good friends today. Also I got more than average in my reports and I started getting picked for sports teams and school was a pretty good place to be. In fact when it came time for me to leave I really did not want to! School camps were happening and I so wanted to go on them but my parents said no it was time for me to move on into my career, not to stay at school and enjoy myself, so onto my career I went...

It goes to show you that you can have a great layout with no photo's just your memoies. I like your journaling of course, but I also like the crumbled edges and the color that you did choose.

I can relate somewhat to your feeling "unnoticeable and average" during school. My school career was similar and I'm glad we are both noticeable and above average now!!! You go girl!

 

I think you really captured the feeling in your journaling by placing your picture quietly behind the journaling - almost unnoticed. A very touching layout. Thank you for telling your story.

WOW! I love that you shared your raw emotions in your journaling... Thank you for that. School is not always a wonderful place to be, but I am glad that it turned around for you. This is just a wonderful LO.

Ngaire, this is a wonderful page. Even unpleasant memories--or the reason for them--are good to preserve. My parents moved several times when I was young also. I attended five different schools until we settled in the middle of my 4th grade year--and that was the traumatic year for me! Thanks for sharing.

What a great LO. Love the journalling and how you have blended the photo into it. Sorry you had such a hard time in the early years though. I remember a teacher in senior school[college in NZ] that used to wack us around the legs in needlework if we started sewing a hem from the wrong direction and today I cannot remember which way to start.
