The grasslands in Custer State Park, South Dakota, can sustain about 1000 buffalo. As the herd size increases each year, the risk of the buffalo not having enough to eat increases. So each fall, approximately 1500 buffalo are rounded up, about 450 are sold, the rest are vaccinated, inspected and released back into the park. Amazing sight to see!!
