My Buddy

This is a LO of my darling chihuahua who past away last year on October 29, 2006. It was right after I came up from double back surgery and I was bedridden for almost a year and during that time I was not able to move much or get out of my bed. I remember waking up and Buddy was not by my side. I thought he went outside to get some fresh air and then I heard my dh and dd scream bloody murder. I thought my dd or dh got hurt at first but they both came running in and told me that Buddy had been run over by some teenage children in our neighborhood. This one year anniversay has been really difficult because I had this beautiful dog since he was a tiny pup and he could fit inside my jacket pockets and I would take him on trips tucked inside there all the time. He lived 9 years. His 10 year birthday would have been Feb 28, 2006. I laid him to rest underneath my rose garden and made him a cross so I could go talk to him when I am sad and miss him. My dd keeps asking Santa to bring him back to me this year for Christmas or just to bring me a new chihuahua so I can have that love again. She is a beautiful little girl. I wish that as well.

Items I used:

TCS Naturescape Paper - Fresh Air

On my dogs photo - I changed brightness and contrast to 50% and 60% and also colorized it to achieve the blues and golds.

TCS Doggytales Paper-Playtime

TCS Doggytales - Balls - I then cropped out a ball and erased background around ball to round it out instead of it being squared so the lined paper would show better.

CFR_LJP_AgedFrame

TCS Naturescape File Tab green

TCS Naturescape EMB Twintabs1

TCS Raffia embellishments

ABR DaytoDay paper

Brushes - Seedpacket flower1 and flower2, pimpinella --forgot who designer is, sorry.

Fonts: Viner Hand ITC and Times New Roman

Dear Buddy,

I am sorry that I could not save you on this day. If I could have walked without pain or my walker from my surgery, I could have been there to protect you from getting hurt. When BJ and Elizabeth screamed, I just knew. This one year anniversary has been hard for the entire family, especially me. I miss you so much little Buddy! You will always be in my heart!

CC is welcomed!

I understand your pain, our 4-legged family members are SO loved and needed. They give us so much more than we could ever give them back. I grieve for their passing every bit as much as I do for the 2-legged family members. (and frankly, I like the 4-leggers way more than many of the 2-leggers!)

I like how you made this extremely personal by writing your feelings in a letter to Buddy, rather than the standard 'our dog Buddy' journalling. I also like how you left the large section of Thao's background showing, it kind of implies that Buddy moved on to Greener Pastures.

Oh!! What a lovely layout remembering your dear friend. I lost my childhood "puppy" this year and I have not been able to even look at pictures yet. I am glad he is close by in a lovely place where you can seek some comfort. (((hugs)))

I can totally understand how sad you feel. I used to live on a country road and as a child lost a couple of beloved pups that way. You will always miss him but you have great memories and this page is a great tribute to him and how he impacted your family. Well done and I'm glad you did it. I did one of my cat who passed away almost 7 years ago and it was still really hard. I hope creating this page gave you some comfort.

Such a sweet LO! I lost my dog just 2 weeks ago. I have been pulling together my pictures of him but I haven't been able to scrap a page for him yet. He was nine years old too. His birthday is the day after my daughters and we were planning on making a big deal out of it since he was turning 10. Unfortunately, he was a few months short. Your LO makes me want to do one for my Winston.

I am sorry for your loss Melissa. I'm glad you were able to scrap Buddy and that he is close by for you to talk to. May God continue to give you comfort in every way.
