Mary Josephine Hall Blood ca. 1900
I got to pull a few things out of the boxes I brought home from Santa Barbara last Summer. The photo is of my great-great grandmother Mary Josephine Hall Blood. I think we have photos of her holding every grandchild (have no idea which baby is which.) And I am struck by this truth, even my grandmother who was born in 1912 has more baby photos than I do! The postcard was sent to Grandma Blood by one of her children. Looks like my great-grandmother's writing. I scanned and extracted the gold watch which belonged to my 3rd great grandmother. The journaling I used for the brush on the background was written by a 19 yr old Mary Licenta Blood (Grandma blood's sister in law) in 1866. It is a fascinating read- all about Lincoln's election and the war. I have so much cool stuff, I could do a whole album of this. ;)

April, this is so amazing! How cool that you found all this neat stuff and know which things go with which people. I wish I could find old photos of my family like this.

What a lovely layout, April. I love the way you've combined mementos from several generations. And yes, you are fortunate to have such a collection of artifacts - they should make creating a album a fascinating, joyous adventure.

Wow this is very cool. I love history. Oh how fun to read things that happened from the people who were living through it. I bet it is fascinating. What an excellent thing to pass down to your own children. It seems much more fun to learn about history when you have actual letters and pictures. I hope you do more layouts on your family history.
