Dixie's trip to the vet

Yesterday we took Dixie to the vet and she told us she has very llittle time left. Her heart and lungs are surrounded by fluid. She's 13 years old and I have had her since she was 6 weeks old. Long time love and companion. When we got home she ran in to the living room and got a toy and came out to the kitchen to lie in her sunbeam. She has lain there ever since she was a puppy. It shines in the patio door in wintertime. It was a sad day, so I felt compelled to take her picture and scrap her.

I used TCS Doggy Tales supplies and MRE paper tear actions.

From the album:

This is touching. We had always pets in our family and I can feel with you. The LO turned out so beautiful!

Our pets are like our children so I know Joy...I am glad you did a layout of her. And a good reminder to us all that our pets are our families as well and that scrapping the memories of them is very important. Your blending is getting so good girlfriend!!

BIG HUG!

Joy - what a wonderful LO for such a wonderful friend. If our darlings could be with us longer! Dixie looks so sweet & your journaling is very touching.

Joy I am late getting to look at this layout.I don't know what stage your beautiful Dixie is at now but the layout of her is so beautiful I felt really choked.I really feel for you. When I was younger I had a beautiful golden retriever,Charlie, for nearly 14 years and I was devastated when he died.We now have a 4 year old Parsons Russell who came when the children left home (filling the empty nest ) and I dread the day we are parted but I keep telling myself the love ,warmth and laughter our pet has brought to our daily lives is so worth it.

I just happened to be going through the gallery and spotted this adorable layout. I don't know if Dixie is still with you or not, but she is certainly a beautiful furbaby. I know what it feels like to loose a cherished member of your furfamily. I lost a kitty in December 2006 and it still hurts.

I love this picture of Dixie and the layout is too cute. I hope Dixie is still with you, but whether or not she is here is a lovely poem that I found on the I Loved My Pet website. It's called Rainbow Bridge. Everytime I read it I start to cry, and today's no exception. My heart goes out to you.

RAINBOW BRIDGE

“Just this side of Heaven is a place called

Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,

That pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all our special friends,

Where they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,

And our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who have been ill and old,

Are restored to health and vigor.

Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,

Just as we remember them in our dreams

Of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing,

They miss someone very special to them,

That they left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes

When one suddenly stops and looks into the distance…

Her eyes are intent. Her eager body quivers.

Suddenly she begins to run from the group,

Her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted and when you and your

Special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous

Reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands

Caress the beloved head and you look, once more,

Into the trusting eyes of your pet,

So long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together…”
