When I saw this contest, I realized that this is why I started digi scrapping in the first place. It has evolved from creating a simple prayer journal to carry around to scrapping my faith, or faithbooking. My husband often wonders why I spend so much time on this, but to me it's important to document my thoughts, meditations, and revelations concering my faith. And I have a great desire to make it beautiful. There is such joy in seeing the wonderful results, and I thank God for the desire and ability to create. This layout shows just that.
Materials used:
STI_SS_Paper_Artsy_Watercolor1_salt
BVA_Grungelle_BrushSet_smudge
MRE_PhotoBasics_Smartglow
a freebie alpha from Shabby Princess
CK cursive font
Courier font
Technique:
It was a lot of trial and error and discarded efforts, so I'll tell you what I remember. I quickly read Shalae Tippets' tutorial for using the watercolor template, using sampled colors from the photo to create a gradient as she suggested. I used the brush to erase unwanted areas of my portrait. The portrait has the Smartglow effect and has a film grain filter that comes with my PSE4. At first I used Shalae Tippets' paper STI_HolyNight_Paper_12x12_Titles for the words in the background, but I used her idea from another paper in the Holy Night collection, Nativity Story. I just copied the creation story text onto another layer and blended it in. That's the story I wanted to tell.
I'm not entirely happy with it, because I did some things I couldn't reverse and would have to start all over to fix it, but I do like the entire effect. It tells the story I want to tell and gives the glory to God. This is my first layout to ever post. I hope you all like it.
