Togetherness

My husband and I have very few pictures of us together. This is one of my favorites and thought I'd put it in a layout. The black in the "torn" paper was a happy accident of mine.

This is a beautiful Lo ...accident or not. The black works very well I think, especially with the rim on Dh's suspenders and the rim on his hat :)

I can see why it might be a favorite :)

Like everyone else that's left comments, I think the 'accident' was a wonderful accident. The colours are just perfectly suited to the photo. What a great looking couple you are and I don't blame you a bit for this being your favourite of the two of your together. What a wonderful memory and I bet he'll love this LO!!

This is a gorgeous layout! I'll echo what everyone else has said and more! But, you have to tell us, how did you get that "happy accident" to occur? It's beautiful!

Sure! I used Syndee Nuckol's "Torn" paper from the French Market Paper Biggie 1. It has a tone-on-tone paisley print. Well, because of the spaces where the paper doesn't cover the background, I created a layer below this paper and used a black fill. I switched layers back to the "Torn" paper and still had the Paint Bucket tool filled with black and accidentally clicked on a light portion of the paisley. It started filling up the lighter pattern with the black! It caught me off guard and once I realized what what happening, I stopped it. (For a moment I thought I'd ruined the whole thing!)

I couldn't decide if that was good or bad so I opened the original "Torn" paper on another layer and clicked off the visibility to the one to which I had added the paint. After comparing the two, I decided that I did like the black added so that's the one I kept.

I'm going to try this again on some other textures and colors and see if I can get some variations. Try it. It's fun!

Sarah, where are you in Virginia? I've lived all over Richmond but now live just South of Petersburg, next to Richard Bland College.
