A sunny autumn day in London many years ago
I did this in PSP X
The background paper and title scroll are from the ABL Heraldic Crest collection. I leached out some of the rich colour to make them more faded and dream like.
The golden vine overlay is actually one of AMC's Scrap Simple Paper Templates from the Vintage Engravings collection loaded onto a new transparent layer and set over the top of the backing paper and picture. I coloured it and the text with Lori's gold script run on a crumpled paper background that came with PSP X.
I buttonized the whole page and added a drop shadow on the text.
I used the flood fill tool with the picture on a very high zoom setting to colour the engraving and text. Some of the engraving wouldn't colour as it is next to a pixel of the same colour on the backing paper. This means that when you try to colour the engraving, the colour "leaks" onto the backing paper, so I had to leave some small details black.
I considered how to avoid this but eventually decided that I like the part coloured look as it makes it look more hand coloured and less digitally perfect. If I wanted to avoid it in future, I would work on the engraving in a separate project, then save it with a transparent background, then load it into my scrap page as a new layer, instead of loading it first then colouring it.
