807am ~
I have actually been up since about 5am. I did not sleep very well last night, which was to be expected. In a couple more hours I will meet my little girl and all my wishes and dreams will finally come true. Life as I have known it all my life is about to all change, and I am ready for it. Bring it on!
11am - 12pm ~
I was so nervous walking up to the door to meet Faith that I hung onto Scott with dear life. When we first saw her she was really shy with her head down and didn't say anything. She ran into her room and came out with a Princess beanie hat. I gave her the stuffed animal frog and said it was for her. She kind of had no interest in it, so I turned my attention to the beanie she brought out. I started talking to her about the princesses on her beanie and naming them. She looked up at me and the first words out of her mouth to me was "I wear my hat". LOL With those words so soon into the meeting the case workers Linda and Stephanie sat back on the couch and shook their heads in amazement that she was actually talking to me. I was really surprised myself. I was expecting her to not talk, not like us, all the bad things that could have happened. From that point on we were playing with a princess cash register that she had sitting on the couch and were talking and playing. Once we were done with that then I told her I brought another gift for her and took out the magnet dolls. These are very similar to paper dolls, but they are made of magnets to keep the clothes on. We played with those pretty much throughout the entire hour. They were such a big hit. I got the idea from a lady on Scrap Girls by the name of GinaMO. I have learned some really good things from her. Anyway, Faith ran into her room saying that she had to get something. When she came out she had 4 Lite Brite pegs in her hands and showed them to Scott. She came out saying that she had "colors". It was really adorable how she wanted to show Scott her "colors". He told her what colors they were and then asked her to count them by putting them into his hand. When they were all placed in his hand he asked if she wanted them back and when she went to go grab for them he closed his hands really quick and she thought it was funny. He would open his hand and she would try to get them again and he would close his hand again, making her laugh and have a big smile on her face. It was such a sight to see. She again ran into her room and brought out a little Lite Bright about 4x4. Scott was sitting down on a chair and so she walked up to him and sat down on his knees and played with the Lite Brite with him. Once they were done playing she got off of his knee and Scott asked where she was going and she picked up the scrapbook that I made her and she said that she wanted to look at it with me. I said "why dont we all look at it together", so I knelled down next to Scott in the chair and she came right up to me and sat on my knee and put her head on my shoulder while we looked at the scrapbook. It was just so adorable. Shortly after, Linda and Stephanie said that the hour was up and that they had to go. I told Faith that we all had to go and that I would call her later in the evening to say good night over the phone. She got really quiet again and put her head down. It looked like she did not want us to leave. We didnt want to leave. LOL I asked her for a hug and she did not acknowledge me, so I asked again, and again nothing. So this time I said "I will give you a hug then" and so I did and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She stood there not afraid, but in a way that she did not know what I was doing. It's sad to see that a child has no idea what a hug is. So so sad.
When we went outside and were ready to leave Stephanie said that she thought the meeting went really well. She said that she was surprised that Faith took to us as fast as she did since it usually takes her 20-30 mins just to give her bio-dad eye contact. That made me feel sad, but happy at the same time.
835pm ~
I called Faith to say good night and to wish her good dreams for tonight. I asked if it was ok for Scott and I to come over again tomorrow so we can play with her again and she said "yes". I think she really likes us. I am overflowing with joy. What a wonderful way to end an evening.
