Stephen's Eagle Scout Dream Fulfilled

Stephen is my wonderful grandson. He was 1 pound & 14 ounces when he was born 3 months early. His intestines ruptured in two places and he had severe brain bleeds during the Life Flight to the children’s hospital.

He ended up with Cerebral Palsy, partially paralyzed on his left side. He is a fighter and survivor and finally learned to walk when he was 3 years old.

Although he has difficulty walking, he completed the Hiking Merit Badge:

5 hikes of 10 miles each and one hike of 20 miles. The long hike took him 11 hours or more.

Stephen collected over 500 toys for the Shriner’s Hospital for his Eagle Scout project. He wanted to serve the hospital because he was so grateful that they did surgery twice on his legs so he could continue to walk.

I am very proud of him! He asked me to fly to South Carolina to speak at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor, so I am GOING! :superhero:

I use Paint Shop Pro XI

Fonts: American Classic & Castellar

The only elements I used for this layout were:

Background paper

TYO_Campfire_StarNight_12x12 by Trish Yochum

And Lori Cook’s Grunge Brushes

The rest of what I used was a clip art from a BSA CD of Lord Baden Powell [founder of the Boy Scouting program]

And pictures of Stephen and an Eagle Scout Banquet Poster.

Super LO for a super accomplishment. I know how proud you are. My oldest son is an Eagle and it is not in any way an easy accom;lishment, but those young men who reach this goal are indeed the finest. You did a beautiful job with presenting this too. My hat's off to your family and this very special young man.

Oh my....what an HONOR! he will love this layout and I am proud of such a young man accomplishing this. Your explanation of how he received his badge brought tears to my eyes this morning. My dad is an Eagle scout. I am glad you are going to be there to speak at his ceremony. What a blessing!

Way to go Stephen!!! He has my admiration and respect. I don't show my (scoutmaster) husband many layouts in the gallery, but I think he'd like to see this one. You've done a wonderful job with this page.

Sandy you did a beautiful job with this LO! What a great accomplishment for your grandson, you AND him must be very proud. I love the imagery you used and you blended everything perfectly into the sky. Make sure you print this out for him, what a great moment to capture. :)

What a great LO, and what an exceptional young man! You have every right to be popping your buttons over his accomplishments. I come from a family of Eagle Scouts (Grandfathers, uncles, dad, brother), so I know what a treasure that is (yes, I sold my fair share of donuts in the 70s to fund my brother's Eagle project!). I hope his Eagle Court is/was all he (and you) have hoped for!

Great blending on this LO! Great photos. Very inspirational LO.

Oh my!!! What a beautiful layout. The blending is excellent as is the positioning of all elements to the design. It really does look so professional.

Way to go to your grandson.. My brother was born with lots wrong with him that really held him back in life but now he's a petty officer in the royal navy!! I think it's so great that so much can be achieved inspite of all that might hold one back. I hope you have a wonderful time when you go to his ceremony - I'm sure you'll be the proudest nan there!
