I moved to Colorado in 1992 to open casinos in Central City and Black Hawk.
Prior to that I lived in Las Vegas and worked in casinos there. I started at the
Stardust Casino as a Slot Machine Mechanic, the first woman mechanic in Las Vegas
and the first woman in the Operating Engineers Union #501. After 9 years I moved to
the Circus Circus Casino, and from there to the Gold Coast Casino.
Colorado was calling my name, “It’s God’s Country,Come see!” Indeed it is beautiful!
When I decided to leave the gaming industry I started a gift basket business. That’s when we
moved from the mountains to Aurora. After 911 there wasn’t much spending going on and I closed
the business. I searched for the perfect retirement job and decided to become a pet groomer.
So, most people who know me now don’t even have a clue as to my climb from Slot Mechanic
to Director of Slot Operations for 3 casinos here in Colorado.
By the way, I just retired from grooming!
