I've been reading through tutorials for the last couple days. This challenge was the perfect opportunity to try a few of them out. The photo is from sxc.hu; part of their royalty free collection.
One of the techniques I used was applying and outer glow to Syndee's dynamic leaf brush. Unfortunately it is not visible at this resolution. I spent a couple hours testing the technique on brushes and embellishments. It is fun. Here is how I accomplished the "glow effect" With the brush layer highlighted; I clicked on the layer styles icon at the bottom of the pallete; chose Outer Glow from the drop down menu. When the dialog box opened up I set the Blend Mode to Linear Light; I chose a color from the BG paper in the color box; finally I set the pixels to 30.
If you try this on a white swirl brush, it makes an interesting glowing effect; almost neon in style.
