What a difference a year makes

As the title says, what a difference a year makes! My "moment" of 2008 is Amelie turning one, a time when I was able to lay to rest the trauma of her delivery and be sure that she hadn't suffered any ill effects from the rocky start she had in life. The first picture was taken when she was a day old, on a ventilator in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit she was transferred to as she was too sick to stay at our local hospital. The second picture was taken just after her first birthday and it's one of my favourites of her.

Supplies used: SS paper templates: Fairy Dust and Ratty Tatty 2; brush set: grungelle; SS alpha template: chipboard LC 2 (just the chalked overlay); styles: basic shadows and epoxy. Font is Lettering Delights CK Holiday Spirit.

Journalling: Amelie’s first birthday was a landmark, not just for her, but for me. Looking at her one year on, there’s no sign of any negative effects from the start she had - in fact, she made all her milestones early and is a headstrong, intelligent, happy little girl. The joy (and sometimes infuriation!) she brings has helped me move on from the trauma of her birth and just enjoy life with her.

Thanks for looking and all comments and CC welcome!

This is so pretty.

And what a great picture of her...both pictures are great, actually.

I have so many pictures of my boys (twins) with the tubes and such. I think you did a nice job including one of yours in this layout.

I've actually only done one layout that uses any of those pictures. And it was one of my first ones. Before I knew my software very well and before I was part of ScrapGirls. One day I will get back to those baby pictures. Seeing your layout gives me inspiration. Gotta put it in my favorites. HERE is that early layout of mine.

Alycya, this is such a lovely, soft, pretty layout and our little girl is beautiful! I like how the hospital photo is lower in opacity so the present photo is the star of the layout; it really shows how far she's come and grown!

This is a WOW layout! what a sweet little girl and I am so glad you scrapped this. Not only for you but for Amelia to see someday when she is older and realize how much you love her.

Very beautiful LO. Your DD is precious. I love the softness here and the story you are telling. I had two of my five spend time in NICU. It is very unsettling, to say the least. I'm happy to say my NICU babies are now 18 and 10!

This is a gorgeous layout. I love the extraction and the blendings. That is a stunning photo of your daughter. Those blue eyes are captivating. I love your title and your journaling too.

i just loved this one, it just all came together wow it showed the difference in one year, shes a beautifull baby and healthy, i know, the worry when something happens at birth, my youngest grandson was born with a heart defect and had to be flown to a neonatal health unit, it was so frightening for my daughter , he is fine now, and no heart surgery. this is truly a beautifull picture. cathy.

My eyes were drawn to your layout immediately, the soft pinks & whites carefully blended - no jarring note, just that beautiful complexion and those wonderful blue eyes taking centre stage! A work of LOVE!!

Thank you for sharing Alycya!
